ARCHITECTURE AS A COURSE.
Architecture is all about the erection of buildings, and the basic essential needs for a building is for protection against external predators such as rain, sunlight, wind and more, security is also one of the basic essence of a building.
Thus; Architecture is a course that deals with the process whereby the personnels mastered in this field of study, design, plan, and construct structures example: buildings.
Architects also draw blueprints on how a particular structure is to be built.
Architecture first began in Egypt( Egypt Pyramids at Giza) and Mesopotamia, other countries followed thus which includes;The Parthenon in Athens, Greece,Roman aqueduct in Segovia, Spain, Mohenjo Daro in Pakistan and a lot more. Architecture have however improved a lot from the year 1980 till date.
IMPORTANCE OF STUDYING ARCHITECTURE...
People come up with questions like why should i become an architect? Is it beneficial to me and my society?
All the skyscrapers, bungalows, the houses we live in, even the hospital where we go to when we get sick and are all the marvels of architecture and the importances are listed below:

DIRECT ENTRY
(i) AAU and RSUST accept ND/HND upper credit in
relevant programmes into 200 and 300 level
respectively plus UTME requirements. RSUST requires
A’ level passes in Mathematics and Physics and any
other three (3) subjects from English Language,
Building Construction, Fine Arts, Technical Drawing,
Chemistry may be admitted into 200 level.
(ii) AAU, JOS, LAUTECH, OAU and UYO require ND/HND
upper credit in Architecture or other relevant
qualifications, plus the UTME requirements. UYO
accepts HND lower credit. DELSU requires ‘A’ level
passes in either Mathematics or Physics.
(iii) ABSU accepts ND/ HND in relevant programmes plus
the UTME requirements.
(iv) ABU accepts two (2) 'A' level/IJMB passes which must
include Mathematics and Physics, Chemistry,
Geography or Fine Arts.
(v) BAUCHI
a) requires two (2) ‘A’ level passes or equivalents in
Mathematics, Physics and any of Chemistry,

does not accept NCE. Candidates must in addition
meet the UTME requirements.
(xii) IMSU - requires 'A' level passes in Mathematics and
Physics and accepts NCE credit in relevant subjects. (xiii) JABU accepts five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in relevant
subjects plus ND upper credit.
(xiv) KUST runs the programmes for a four (4) year
duration for UTME and a three (3) year duration for
DE at the moment. May consider HND upper credit or
degree (Third Class) in Architectural Technology for a
special admission into 300 level.
(xv) LAGOS requires
a) passes in three (3) JUPEB/‘A’ level subjects :
Mathematics, Physics, and any one of Chemistry,
Biology, Economics or Geography or Fine Arts.
b) HND/ND distinction in Architecture into 200 or
300 level plus UTME requirements.
(xvi) LAUTECH accepts
a) 'A’ level passes in two (2) subjects and any of
Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Fine Arts and
Mathematics
b) ND/HND upper credit in Architecture may be
considered for admission into 200 level.
(xvii) MAUTY accepts two (2) `A' level passes from
Mathematics, Physics and any one of Chemistry,
Technical Drawing, Fine Arts, Geography and
Economics.
(xviii) MINNA accepts candidates who have undergone an
accredited course in Architecture in any of the
approved Colleges of Technology or Polytechnics in
addition to the UTME requirements.
(xix) OAU requires three (3) ‘A’ level passes chosen from
Mathematics, and two (2) other subjects from
Physics, Economics and Technical Drawing.
(xx) UNN accepts
a) ND upper credit in Architectural Technology or
Building Technology plus the UTME
requirements. b) A' level, HSC or equivalent passes in Mathematics
and Physics, and any other subject plus UTME
requirements.
UTME
(i) AAU and ABSU - Chemistry not compulsory.
(ii) ABSU requires five (5) ‘0’ level credit passes in English
Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two (2) from
Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Fine Arts, Geography,
Economics, Biology, Surveying etc.
(iii) ABU requires five (5) ‘0’ level credit passes including
English Language, Physics and Mathematics, plus any
two (2) of Geography, Fine Arts, Technical Drawing,
Wood/Metal Work.
(iv) BAUCHI requires five (5) 'O' level credit passes in
Mathematics, English Language, Physics and any two
(2) from of Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Fine Art,
Geography, Economics, Building Construction and
Land Surveying.
(v) BELLS requires five (5) ‘0’ level credit passes in English
Language, Mathematics, Physics, and any two (2) from
the following: Chemistry, Biology, Technical
Drawing/Fine Arts, Geography, Economics, Building
Construction and Land Surveying.
(vi) CALEB same as in Building Technology.
(vii) COOU accepts ‘0’ level pass in English Language.
(viii) CUAB requires five (5) ‘0’ level credit passes including
English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any other
two (2) subjects from Chemistry, Economics, Fine Arts,
Geography, Biology, Technical Drawing, Building
Construction and Land Surveying.
(ix) ESUTECH requires ‘0’ level credit passes in English
Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two (2) from
Chemistry, Art, Geography, Biology and Economics.
(x) FUTA requires five (5) ‘0’ level credit passes at NOT
more than two (2) sittings in the following subjects:
English Language, Mathematics and Physics, and two
(2) ‘0’ level credit passes from Technical Drawing,
Chemistry, Geography, Fine Arts and Economics.
Candidates must have at least a pass in Chemistry.
(xi) FUTO requires at least five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in
English Language, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics
plus any other subject from Biology, Geography,
Economics, Fine Arts, Technical Drawing and Further
Mathematics.
(xii) JABU requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in English
Language, Physics, Mathematics, chemistry and any
one of Geography, Fine Arts, Woodwork, Technical
Drawing, Biology or Economics plus ND upper credit in
relevant programmes.
(xiii) JOS accepts five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes which must
include English Language, Mathematics, Physics,
Technical Drawing or five (5) Arts or Applied Arts and
one (1) of History, Economics, Geography and
Chemistry.
(xiv) LAGOS requires ‘O’ level credit passes in English
Language, Mathematics, Physics, Fine Arts or
Technical Drawing and any one (1) of Economics,
Geography, Chemistry, Biology, Painting and
Decoration/Building Construction.
(xv) LAUTECH accepts ’O’ level credit pass in Technical
Drawing or Fine Arts in lieu of Biology.
(xvi) MAUTY requires ‘O’ level credit passes in Physics,
Chemistry and Biology/ Agricultural
Science/Geography/Further Mathematics/ Technical Drawing/ Welding and Fabrication Engineering, Craft
Practice.
(xvii) RENAISSANCE requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes
including English Language, Mathematics, Physics,
Chemistry and Geography/Technical Drawing at not
more than two (2) sittings.
(xviii) RSUST requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes including
Physics, English Language and Mathematics and any
two (2) subjects from Geography, Technical Drawing,
Fine Arts, Chemistry, Building Construction and
Economics at not more than two (2) sittings.
(xix) UNIOSUN requires five (5) ‘O' level credit passes
