The long-awaited time is here for students to get ready and return to school as the Federal Government of Nigeria offers to give the sum of N15 billion for the revitalization of polytechnics and monotechnics.
It is recorded that, polytechnics and monotechnics embark on a strike on the 6th of April 2021 that has lasted 2 months, 1 day, 16 hours with a demand for the government to meet the request of ASUP (Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics).
Having reached a consensus, the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) on Wednesday suspended its two-month-old nationwide strike. Students are expected to immediately return to school while lecturers also should resume work starting from June 10, 2021.
Why did ASUP embark on a strike?
The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) engage in a strike as a result of the poor state of public polytechnics and monotechnics and nonpayment of 10 months arrears of the new minimum wage.
When will ASUP call off the strike?
The 2 months, 1 day old strike has been called off today and students are expected to resume academic activities starting from 10 June.
