Bowen University sacks 100+ Staff
Bowen university has now joined the list of organizations downsizing to stay afloat due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Bowen university is a private institution that is located at Iwo, Osun State. The institution on Tuesday, 23rd June, reportedly sacked over 100 workers. The reason the school gave for the retrenchment was the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
This event however, has brought tension on the campus because some workers don't find the retrenchment appealing. Some have also threatened to protest against the action of the school.
The vice chancellor of the institution, professor Joshua Ogunwole, has been accused by one of the workers as being wicked and insensitive. He stated that the accused, despite the economic situation, recently bought a vehicle worth 42million naira.
