Foreign students No Longer Admitted in the US
As immigration laws and certain adjustments are been made in the United States of America, the immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had announced in a statement on the 24th of July, that it will no longer take in new foreign students seeking online-only study.
The announcement primarily affects new students that are hoping to enroll at universities that provide classes entirely online as a result of the covid-19 pandemic. These laws apply to non-immigrant students in initial status after March 9, under the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP).
In a memo released to college officials, the ICE said that new students that weren't enrolled around March 9, will most likely not be able to get visas if they intend to take courses that are strictly online.
This came after a court of law rescinded a highly contested policy aimed at deporting foreign students whose classes moved online due to the coronavirus pandemic.
