Free Education for Senior Secondary School

A bill has been presented by the Senate recently tagged: "Free Universal Education Act Amendment Bill", seeking to extend the federal government's free and compulsory education program from the Junior Secondary School to the Senior Secondary School.

The bill was sponsored by the senator representing the Imo West Senatorial district, Rochas Okorocha, whom has passed the first reading on the floor of the Senate. He described the bill as a people-oriented bill and hopes that the bill would be given due consideration and subsequent approval.

According to Senator Okorocha, the bill would ensure that Nigerian children are able to access qualitative education up to the level of Senior Secondary School as against the Federal Government's free education policy which only captures students from primary to Junior Secondary School level.
