NYSC SET TO REOPEN ORIENTATION CAMPS
An online publication with the above headline has drawn the attention of the Management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), suggesting that the scheme would soon resume orientation programmes.
In view of the danger posed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it is appropriate to say that the NYSC will only return to the orientation camps when it is safe to do so.
The scheme places a very high value on the lives of camp officials, Corps members, and other stakeholders, which was the reason the 2020 Batch "A" Stream 1 orientation programme in March was suspended, and shall not compromise their safety whatsoever.
To enforce the aforementioned, the Corps shall only return when the Federal Government gives its approval and not before, even if camps are established as being safe.
Corps members and prospective Corps Members are therefore advised to only obtain their information from NYSC official sources.
The Director General, NYSC, brig Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim cautions Corps Members and prospective Corps Members to strictly continue observing the COVID-19 safety protocols as directed by the NCDC.
