Schools to Reopen in Ebonyi State by August
The Ebonyi State government has announced that schools in the state will reopen for the continuation of academic activities between August and September, since its closure in March due to the coronavirus outbreak.
This announcement was made by the State Governor, Mr. David Umahi, at the virtual Executive Council Meeting , at the state capital on July 15th. He stated that the reopening of schools will be done in phases (stages).
Governor Umahi directed the Chairmen of the 13 LGA's, town union presidents and traditional rulers to use the Locals to clear all the Primary and Secondary school environments in preparation for resumption and not depend on the government. He also said the Commissioner for Education should start working towards developing the e-syllables, starting with the teachers.
Finally, he added that all the schools will be disinfected before the reopening, and teachers will undergo compulsory covid-19 tests.
