The College has two sites. Site A is adjacent to Obasanjo Farms. Site B is slightly opposite the site A. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND Lanlate once hosted a Campus of old Oyo State College of Education, Ilesa. The Campus was established in 1982 by the administration of late Chief Bola Ige, the then Executive Governor of old Oyo State. The rationalization exercise of the Campuses of the College of Education in the State by the Military Administration led to the closure of the Campus in 1985. However, the Oyo State Government under the leadership of Late Lamidi Adesina re-opened the Campus on December 11, 2002 as a Campus of Oyo State College of Education, Oyo (now Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo). Immediately after the Government’s announcement was made, the Governing Council of the College under the chairmanship of Prof. Lekan Oyedeji constituted a high powered Governing Council/Management Committee for the immediate re-opening of the campus. The host Community accepted the responsibility of supporting the new Campus by donating the site and structures of the erstwhile Lanlate High School for its take-off, while the State Government gave Forty Million Naira as take-off grant. However the National Commission for Colleges of Education, (NCCE) directed that all satellite Campus of Colleges of Education in Nigeria should be closed down in 2013. In order to forestall the closure of the campus again, the government took proactive measures as a result of information received from the Governing Council of Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo. The law establishing the College of Education, Lanlate, Oyo State, was enacted by the State House of Assembly in December, 2014. On April 25, 2015, the Executive Governor of Oyo state, Senator Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi signed the law establishing the College of Education, Lanlate, Oyo State, thus making it an autonomous College of Education. Today, the College operates at two sites covering over 100 acres of land at each site. In line with NCCE guidelines, there are six schools namely: School of Education, School of Secondary Education: (Arts and Social Sciences), (Languages), (Sciences), Vocational and Technical Education) and School of Early Childhood Care and Primary Education. Since inception, seven thousand, one hundred and eighty three students had been graduated on behalf of Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo. At present, five thousand, one hundred and ninety students cutting across all levels are being trained in the College. The legal instrument of the College is the College of Education, Lanlate Law, 2014. The law makes provision for a Governing Council which had been constituted and later inaugurated by the State Government on October 7, 2015.
